US experts said in international seminar of “New Requirements
for Agricultural Products Quality Standards of Great Mekong Subregion
Enterprises” in Can Tho, Vietnam, that export of Vietnamese agricultural
products to the US increases year by year. However, cargos are often returned
due to nonconforming quality standards mainly because Vietnamese exporters fail
to adapt to regulation of US’s export policies of agricultural products.
Eboue Corcoran, consultant of American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam said according to new regulations, US not only detects improted commodities at ports but also inspects the entire production procedure; for Pangasius, USDA will detect all Pangasius arriving at US ports from Sep. 1, 2017. Pangasius with “quality label” of USDA can enter the US.
