The 40th Conference of Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) will be held on July 17 through July 22 in Geneva. CAC was founded in 1963 by United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and World Health Organization (WHO). Attending members will consider passing a series of new international food standards to protect health of consumers and promote fair food trade.

FAO and WHO released a notification that over 600 representatives from 120 countries will gather in Geneva to participate in the 40th Conference of CAC. They will make suggestions on and discuss 50 international standards on food safety and over 30 new jobs, and upgrade texts of existing code.

“CAC” also passed on edition and amendment of Norms of Nutrition Labeling, including revision of nutrition reference values of VD and VE, and approval of draft about “Work Standards for Rice Arsenic Pollution Prevention and Reduction”.
