Andrew Waring,
Director of Australia-based Webster, said in “China International Tree Nuts
Conference 2017” held in Guangzhou early this month that their new walnut farm,
Avondale, has been built. The farm will usher in first batches of walnut in
2018, including Tulare,
Vina, Howard and Chandler.
It is worth mentioning that the new farm grows red-skinned walnut “Livermore”
particularly for the Chinese market, which will harvest for the first time in
2018 with predicted output of 15-17ton.
In addition, Andrew Waring also introduced walnut production and export situations of Webster in the conference. It is known that about 60% unshelled walnuts of Webster are exported to Europe and Hong Kong every year, and 40% are shelled and processed for domestic consumption or overseas retailing market such as India and Japan. In 2017, the walnut output in Webster rebounded, and both output and export grew obviously than the depression period in past two years.
