The global pecan supply in
2016/2017 is 338,594t while total consumption is about 275,038t. The
remaining 63556t pecans are stored for inventory in 2017/2018. About the
upcoming 2017 pecan harvest season, Kevin Ivey predicted in the conference that
the output in main producing area of 15 states in America is expected to reach 134,558t,
in Mexico is about 113378, in South Africa about 13498t, in Australia about
2999t, while in other producing area about 500t. Therefore, in 2017/2018,
global pecan output shall be about 264,933t while total supply shall be 328,489t.
In general, during 2016-2017,
global pecan consumption increased, and pecan nut import in major markets in
the world increased obviously. During 2017-2018, US pecan nuts export is
expected to rise continuously, driving slight growth of unshelled pecan export.
