Last week, the walnut
output in 2017 is predicted as 650,000t by California, which is much
lower than the 699,000t predicted by California processors in July.
Due to hot
weather in summer, some experts believed the output may not reach 699,000t, and
at most 680,000. The estimated number, 650,000t, is lower than expected output
of most processors and growers may be because 2016 is a harvest year, so the
walnut trees need a rest.
Since the output is much lower than expected, most people predict price of
walnut with shell will surge about 7-10 Cent/pound, while price of nut will at
least rise 20Cent/pound. However, the overall quality of walnut may be not good
due to the hot weather.
