Ministry of Commerce of Myanmar announced on Sept. 8 to
suspend importing various beans from Sept. 15 in order to stabilize domestic
market since beans in domestic market are sufficient. The time of open-up will
be decided according to domestic market demand. For that, U Khin Maung Lwin,
secretary of Ministry of Commerce, said the remaining beans in domestic market
of Myanmar are too many. Inventory of rye bean and pigeon pea is about
400,000t. Merchants have such requirement, so the decision of import suspension
is decided. U MING GE WU,
secretary general of Agricultural Products Association of Myanmar said since
Secretary of Commerce said the Premier of India Narenda Modi will visit
Myanmar, Myanmar will continue to negotiate with India on beans export to
India. Later, the price of rye bean and pigeon pea dropped about 10,000 Kyat
per ton in domestic market in one day.
