In accordance with statistics of Peru Foreign Trade
Council, the growth rate of pecan export in Peru from 2012 to 2016 is 11%, from
USD4 million to USD6.2 million. Export is increased as promoted by various
factors, such as increase of Chinese market demands, which accounts for 91% of
total output.
According to industrial estimation, about 500hectare pecans
are grown in Peru, and most pecans are grown by cooperatives in Lima and Huaral
area. The output of every tree is at least 80kg, and 100 pecan trees are in
every hectare; then the earnings of every hectare is nearly 20%.
In next five years, the pecan plantation area in Ika is expected to triple. Some agricultural product exporters are promoting nuts plantation of cooperatives to replace asparagus which output dropped in recent years.
