California walnuts have almost
finished harvesting. However, opinions on size, color and output information
vary.
Vina: Color is not as good as former
ones; many processors found they have to process those varieties for 2-3 times
on production line to guarantee good quality of nuts;
Harley: Harley output in California this year is also
disappointed. Experts predict that the output of Harley this year will drop
20%, leading to price rise of natural and blenched Harley.
Square fruit: both size and
quality of square fruit are favorable; many processors can supply 32mm+ and 34mm+ previous square fruit. Although the quality is
good, the output seems lower.
Winter nut: this is the variety harvested at
last. As a whole, quality of winter nuts this year in the USA is good.
In general, the US walnut output this year is expected to reach 650,000t. However, some processors and industrial experts believe the final output may between 600,000t and 620,000t, about 10% lower than expected output.
