Senegal Government held a ministerial joint conference the other day to
confirm the harvest date of peanuts in 2017 is still Dec. 1, and price shall be
FCFA210 per kg, holding the line with last year. The Senegal Government will
take FCFA25 billion subsidy for plantation, and purchase 55,000t quality seeds
to make preparation for next year’s plantation.
Macky Sall, President of Senegal said the rainfall in rainy season is
adequate, and state and local governments have also adopted effective measures
to promote peanut industry development, showing good harvest of peanuts in
Senegal. The government has required all departments to cooperate with each
other so as to guarantee safe, ordered, efficient and centralized peanut
purchase, and reduce wastes during harvest process.
As a whole, many Chinese merchants suffered Waterloo when purchasing peanuts in Senegal last year. The problem whether China-oriented peanut export of Senegal can keep former hot situations still remains to be seen.
