After completing the corn harvesting of this year, the French peasants found delightedly that the harvest of this year was much better than previous years. This year, each hectare had the extra average yield of 103 quintals of corns, achieving the third best level in history.

This crop with high water consumption has experienced the water shortage in winter and the extreme weather in spring, frightening the planters. Fortunately, the planters had the good luck. Most of the rainwater fell in the growth phase of the crop, from June to August, and the blooming and heading phases. Although there still had the water shortage, the water came in time before the harvest luckily.

According to Corn Plant Association (AGPM), although the planting area of the corn reduced by 5% this year, about 135 square hectares, the yield increased by 12% on the contrary, reaching up to 13,900,000 tons. But the elusive situation was that the good corn harvest in South America and US made the international corn price slump. On November 17, the transaction price of each decalitre of the corn in Chicago was only 355 cents.
