According
to Burma Commerce Department, the Burma rye bean and pigeonpea were exported to the
Indian market in the former years, Since that India
limits the import of the Burma
beans to protect domestic bean traders, the Burma
beans are mainly exported to Nepal
and Pakistan
currently. Recently, the Burma
beans are started to be exported to China via the border trade port.
The head of the commercial department said, China had less demand for the
pigeonpea and rye bean before. However, China’s demand for the beans has
started to increase recently. According to the information, Nepal mainly uses the beans exported by Burma to it for the intermediary trade while Pakistan
imports the beans due to the domestic needs. Since that the prices of all the
beans exported to India are
good, Burma
also hopes to seek for the countries for which the export prices of its beans
are relatively high. However, the issuance of “Ban on Beans” by India has impacted the prices of the Burma
beans. So far for the current financial year, although the pigeonpea export
volume did not reduce, the export amount was only USD715, 000,000, USD403,
000,000 less than that in the corresponding period of the previous financial
year; the export amount of rye beans in the corresponding period of the
previous year was USD1, 118,000,000, USD403, 000,000 more than that of this
financial year. It is learned that the price of black rye bean (FAQ/RC) was
538000 kyats per ton and the price of black rye bean (SQ/RC) was 688000 kyats
per ton on January 16. Compared to the prices of up to 800,000-1,000,000 kyats
per ton of the beans exported to India,
it can be said that the prices of Burma beans drops abruptly.
