The demand on the spot
stock of California almond is quite robust,
while the variety that most buyers need differ tremendously from the current
stock in California.
Everyone wants to buy Carmel Supreme. Few people want to buy NPS or NP SSR. The
buyers want to buy small Bu/Pa, but California
only have the large grain Carmel Type SSR 20/22.
The demand on almond is
now at a low level due to the trade war between China
and the United States. However, prices are
still very stable because of the continuously declining stock in California. By the end of July, the California
almond stock market will decline from 398 million pounds last year to 2.5-3.0
billion pounds this year.
There
are two data predicting the yield of the new harvest season. The first is the
TNT report predicting that the yield will be 2.51 billion pounds. The second is
the prediction issued by California Almond Association predicting that the area
where can harvest almond in California in 2018
will be 1.7 million acres. Based on these, it can be predicted that the output
of this year will be about 2.44 billion pounds.
