On May 14, 2018, Nigeria released No. G/SPS/N/NGA/18 - No. G/SPS/N/NGA/30  notifications, and the State Food and Drug Administration of Nigeria issued a series of food related drafts of legal laws, including Food Hygiene Regulations 2017, Regulations on Genetically Modified Food 2017, Honey regulations 2017, and Regulations on Nutrition, Health and Other Food Claims, etc., among which the Food Hygiene Regulations 2017 stipulates the requirements on food processing, processing, packing, transportation, distribution, manufacturing, handling, storage and sales of food facilities or enterprises. Regulations on Nutrition, Health and Other Food Claims stipulates the standards relevant to nutrition, health and other requirements of food labels, and requires that any statement made on food labels should be clear, accurate and verifiable to enable consumers to make sensible and meaningful choices.
