Import and Export Department of the Ministry of Industry & Trade of Vietnam said that in May 2018, Vietnam
cashew export grew for four consecutive months, with export volume of 35,000
tons, foreign exchange earning of $330 million, export volume and amount of exports
month-on-month growth respectively 8.8% and 6.4% and year-on-year growth
respectively 0.6% and 21.4%.
In the first five months of 2018, the total export volume of cashews was
141,000 tons, with the year-on-year growth of 21.4%, foreign exchange earning
of $1.396 billion and growth of 25.3%.
In May, the average export price was $9,429 a
ton, with the month-on-month decline of 2.2% and year-on-year decline of 5.3%. The
average export price of cashews in the first five months was $9,867
a ton, with the year-on-year growth of 3.2%.
In the first quarter of this year, cashew export volume reached 73,000
tons, earning foreign exchange of $739 million, with year-on-year growth of export
volume and amount of exports respectively 31% and 43.6%.
The
United States, China
and the Netherlands remain the three largest
markets for Vietnam cashews, accounting for
30.5%, 16.8% and 14.3% of Vietnam’s total amount
of exports of cashews. Vietnam cashew export
volume and amount of exports to Australia fell
13.9% and 7.1%, respectively.
