The global output of sunflower seeds in 2018/19 is expected 46.9 million
ton, 2.9mllion ton lower than the predicted value in the previous month because
the reduction of output in Ukraine and Russia is larger than the output
increase in the USA. For the south area of Ukraine and Russia, the weather has
kept high temperature and dry since sowing seeds in May. The possibility of
increase in per unit area yield of sunflower seeds has been lowered. Earlier,
the sowing area of sunflower seeds in Ukraine is increased slightly, causing
guess of market that the yield may create the highest record. However, the per
unit area yield dropped, and the output may reduce 2 million ton to 13.5
million ton. The lower supply makes the squeezing volume in 2018/19 dropped
from 13.7 million ton in the previous year to 13.3 million ton. The export of
sunflower seed oil in 2018/19 is expected to be 5.15 million ton, 650,000ton
lower than the predicted volume in the previous month.
The per unit area yield of sunflower seeds in Russia is reduced, which may lead to reduction of sunflower seed yield in 2018/19 to 10.5 million ton, 1 million ton lower than the predicted volume in the previous month. The reduction of sunflower seed yield will makes the squeezing volume reduce to 10 million ton, 800,000t lower than the predicted value in the previous month. The lower sunflower seed oil will cause the export volume of Russia in 2018/19 to reduce to 2 million ton, lower than the 2.2 million ton in the previous year.
