Deputy Minister Chen Qingnan of Ministry of Agriculture
and Rural Development (MARD) said currently China is the major export market
for various agricultural products in Vietnam. Upon cooperative agreement signed
by leaders of the two governments, both parties will strengthen export of advantageous
agricultural products in Vietnam such as fruits, aquatic products, rice, flour
and rubbers that China demands.
China is studying to preferentially import Durian,
grapefruit, passion fruit, sweet potato, coconut, annona squamosa and mangosteen
from Vietnam. Moreover, China has allowed 13 Vietnamese enterprises to export
aquatic products such as tuna, clam and tilapia.
Li Jianliang, Representative in China Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City believed due to resemblances of the two countries in aspects of culture and consumption demand. Therefore, most products made in Vietnam may be exported to China. The potential for bilateral agricultural products import/export trade is vast.
