As affected by
Sino-US Trade War and late maturity of large amount of fruits in the USA, USA
reduced the import volume of fresh grapes and other fruits from Chile this
year. Facing the excessive domestic fresh fruit inventory, Chile needs to
expand new export market, and launch diversified development.
La Tercera reported on Dec. 27 that under
the complex background of Sino-US Trade War, the fruit exporters of Chile have
to sell their products to Asian market. Moreover, the grapes in California
became mature late, and the harvest season lasted to the Autumn (from September
to November). However in December, as local grapes are sold out, USA needed to
purchase grapes from Chile.
Nevertheless, Chile still faces excessive
fruit inventory this year. It is indicated that demand for imported fruits from
Chine will reduce in the future. The result is, as the world’s largest exporter
of fresh grapes, fresh blueberry, plums and cherries, Chile has to seek for new
market and launch diversified development. Usually, USA is the largest overseas
buyer of some fruits of Chile.
The Chairman of ASOE, Ronald Bown, said they are striving to expand new market, particularly the Southeast Asia.
