Peruvian Agriculture and Irrigation
Minister Gustavo Mostajo said recently that under the framework of an
inter-agency cooperation agreement on agriculture signed between Peru and
Chile, the two countries will develop a joint plan
to expand agricultural exports to
Asian countries.
Mostajo said Peru and Chile
have the same agricultural products and both export avocados, grapes and citrus
fruits, so the two countries shall strengthen cooperation and jointly promote
the export of agricultural products. In
terms of the health, the two countries have achieved remarkable results in
fruit fly control through joint cooperation.
Antonio Walker, Chiles minister of
agriculture, pointed out Chile and Peru will jointly work out a work plan for
the next few months and hope to establish an exclusive business alliance with
Mexico and Colombia, members of Alianza del Pac í fico.
In addition, Peru and Australia formally signed a free trade agreement in Canberra on February 12. According to the Agreement, 96% of Peruvian products can enjoy duty-free policy when entering the Australian market. Peruvian avocado, grape, quinoa, frozen prawns and other products show great export potential.
