The 53rd Annual Meeting and Exhibition of Western America Association of Pecan Growers was held in New Mexico from March 3 to 5. Mr. Les Daviet, President of the Western America Association of Pecan Growers, presided over the meeting. The meeting attracted more than 350 members, including pecan growers and shellers, to hold in-depth exchanges and discussions on pecan genetic improvement, planting technology and equipment trade. The American Association of Pecan Growers was also invited to report on the progress of major global marketing activities.
On the first day of the meeting, the United States Pecan Federation, American Association of Pecan Growers and others held internal discussions, respectively. The export market situation and the Mexican import market have become hot topics for Tea Breaks exchange and discussion. On the second day of the meeting, experts and scholars from the State University of New Mexico, Texas Agricultural Research Center, University of Arizona, and the Agricultural Laboratory Center of the United States Department of Agriculture gathered to discuss issues such as soil, fertilizer, irrigation, pests, and fruit leaves for pecan planting, and to share new measures to optimize pecan planting industry and increase yield. The pecan growers from the United States, Mexico and South Africa have benefited a lot.

It is worth mentioning that when American Association of Pecan Growers reported on the progress of global market activities, it analyzed the current consumption situation of pecan in China’s retail, catering and baking markets and predicted the trend in future consumption. Although China and the United States are facing a trade war, pecan is still deeply loved by Chinese consumers and its market potential is immeasurable. American pecan traders look at the Chinese market with a positive and optimistic attitude. According to the latest news, in early March, the U.S. pecan dealers have been successively delivering goods to the Chinese market.
