Tanzanian and Kenyan Buyers Sign Cashew Sale Agreement

Tanzanian grain and agricultural products bureau and Kenyan enterprise IndoPower signed a 418 billion shilling (about USD 180 million) cashew nut sales agreement at the headquarters of the east African community. According to the Agreement, Tanzania will sell 100,000 tons of cashew nuts to Kenyan enterprises, which promise to complete the payment within a week. Tanzanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Kakunda said that 113,000 tons of cashew nuts remained in stock after the first batch of cashew nuts had been sold, while Tanzania could only process 50,000 tons per year. Therefore, the Tanzanian government is negotiating with potential Buyer’s. At present, the Tanzanian government has purchased 213, 000 tons of cashew nuts from cashew nut farmers in the country, hoping to export 200,000 tons.
