China is the largest pistachio importer in the world, and
its pistachio nuts import every year exceeds 100,000t mainly from Iran. As
affected by adverse factors such as retaliatory tariff, China is expanding
import channels of pistachio nuts ceaselessly.
As reported by the Turkish Ministry of
Trade in July, Turkey has reached
agreement with the Chinese government, and the qualification for pistachio
export to China is approved officially.
The pistachio production in Turkey is featured in good and worse harvest cycles obviously. The yield difference in different years and in different producing regions is obvious. Report released by USDA shows as affected by rich precipitation in southeast of Anatolia, Turkey, the 2019/20 season (Sept. 2019 - Aug. 2020) will be the low yield year for pistachios. The yield is expected to be 85,000t*, decreasing greatly compared to the 21,000t in 2018/19 season.
