300,000T of Peanuts Exported by the Senegal from 2018 to 2019


The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development pointed out while attending Peanutthe Seed Export: Growers Conference in Kaolack a few days ago: 300,000t of peanuts exported by the Senegal from 2018 to 2019, which has a positive impact on the national economy and proves that Senegal has the ability to regain the top position in the global peanut market. This is the result of the joint efforts by the government and peanut growers and exporters.


Data for the past ten (10) years reveal that peanuts are still the main cash crop in the Senegal and are widely planted in the middle, east and south areas thereunder. In 2016, yield of peanuts in the Senegal was close to 1.5 million tons, with an export of 365,000t, the largest export of peanuts over the years.
