As reported by Iran’s Financial Tribune on Oct. 13, IME launched pistachio futures contract trade officially on Oct. 13. Soltani Judd, the person in charge of IME, said the pistachio futures trade is originated in the world and will help global market find true price of pistachio. He explained that other countries have no derivatives market of pistachio or saffron crocus because the two products are mainly from Iran. At present, except pistachio futures contract, IME also trades futures of saffron crocus and cumin seeds. From this year according to Iranian calendar (from March 21), the contract value agricultural product futures of IME reaches YER 1.25 trillion (equaling to USD 1 billion).
