Corn Exported by Kazakhstan to China by Containers for the First time
On the 23rd day, a train carrying 32 containers with a Corn total of 1,000t left the dry port of Kazakhstan’s special economic zone “Khorgos – Dongdaemun” to Urumqi, China.
According to Manabaev, general manager of the dry port, this is Kazakhstans first time to introduce corn to China in the Export: form of containers. Corn is mainly produced in Alma-Ata, southeast Kazakhstan. He pointed out: “The first round marks another step forward in China-Kazakhstan logistics and agricultural products trade.”
Omarov, a representative of the agricultural production enterprises in Alma-Ata, expressed that, this year the planting area of the corn in Alma-Ata reached 80,000 hectares and approximately 550,000t were harvested. In the past, Alma-Ata corn was usually exported to Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan by the truck. This shipment to China made Kazakh local production enterprises full of the expectation to develop the new sales markets.
