Sino-Russian Trade in the Agricultural Products Grew Rapidly

Han Zheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Vice Premier of the State Council and Chinese Chairman of China-Russia Investment Cooperation Committee, co-chaired the sixth meeting of China-Russia Investment Cooperation Committee with the Russian First Deputy Prime Minister and chairman of the Committee, Siluanov, at the Great Hall of the People on the 26th day. The two sides summarized the progress of the investment co-operation between the two countries and the implementation of the key projects, and held extensive discussions on creating additional value chains in the field of the agricultural co-operation, improving the business investment environment and other issues.

Siluanov pointed out that agricultural trade between the two countries has continued to grow steadily in the recent years. From January to October 2019, the bilateral trade volume of the agricultural products as reached $ 3.93 billion, an increase of 9.5% compared with the same period in 2018. During this period, Russia’s export to China increased by 25% to $ 2.6 billion.

In addition, the region and variety range of the Russian agricultural products as exported to China are persistently expanding, and soybeans throughout Russia may be exported to China. In June this year, the two countries executed a protocol on the Russian soybean exports to China.
