IGC will lower expected global grain yield

Pubtime:2020-05-21Author:Source: Hits:

The report of IGC (International Grains Council) shows the global grain yield in 2020/21 may reach 2.218 billion ton due to adverse climate conditions in Europe and the Black Sea area, 5 million ton lower than the expected data in March. However, the predicted value is still 43 million ton higher than the number last year, mainly because corn yield probably increases 39 million ton, reaching 1.158 billion ton.

The estimated global grain consumption is 2.222 billion ton. Since the industrial consumption of grain is reduced, the annual consumption is 4 million ton less than the predicted value in March.

IGC will increase 12 million ton predicted global grain reserve volume to 617 million ton. Although the carry-over reserve of grains is reduced, the reduction is not obvious (about 3 million ton). The prediction of grain consumption in Russia remains unchanged, probably 72.6 million ton (600,000t higher than that in this year), in which 16.8 million ton will be used as food, 4.7 million ton will be used for industrial processing and 40.3 million ton will be used for livestock and poultry farming.

Due to unoptimistic prospect of feed wheat export, the predicted international trade volume is 384 million ton, 1 million ton less than the number in the previous report, in which, the wheat transaction volume is expected to reduce 3 million ton to 177 million ton. Moreover, the grain export in Russia in 2020/21 is expected to reach 47 million ton, in which wheat export is 37.4 million ton, 1 million ton less than the predicted data in the previous month.
