According
to the NHK TV, Royal, a large Japanese family restaurant group, has seen its
controlling revenues decline sharply due to the spread of the COVID-19
epidemic. Therefore, it plans to close more than 70 of its chain stores by the
end of December 2021.
According
to reports, the Company’s stores responded to the Japanese governments call and
adopted temporary closure or shortening of business hours. However, due to the
sharp drop of approximately 60% in April sales of some of its main restaurants,
it is expected that they will not be able to get rid of their business
difficulties in the short term. The Company pointed out that affected by the
continuous expansion of the COVID-19 epidemic, it decided to rectify the
loss-making shops and adjust the positions of its staff within the group based on
the severe situation faced by its operations.
The
planned closure of more than 70 shops accounts for approximately 10% of the
total shops in Japan.
