The
mainstream media of Tanzania, The Citizen, reported on July 13 that recently
the Minister of Agriculture said cashew nut is the agricultural product with
export value in Tanzania, but the yield is reducing gradually in recent five
years. In order to improve cashew nuts yield, the Government formulated a
series of revitalization plan, including setting special agriculture-support
fund, improving fund of cashew nuts commission and agricultural research
institute in Tanzania, expanding number of employees and developing online
trade. The Minister said the cashew nuts yield in Tanzania would recover year
by year through implementing the plan, and reach the target of 1 million ton in
next 5 years.
The
statistics of Cashew Nuts Board of Tanzania shows in the harvest season from
2015/2016 to 2019/2020, the cashew nut yield is respectively 344,000t,
358,000t, 303,000t, 232,000t and 228,000t, declining year by year.
