According
to the latest special report of the World Bank, the global agricultural market
continuously keeps stable in 2020 because the grain trade is still more
flexible than overall trade. The global outputs of three most extensively
consumed grains (rice, wheat and corn) are in or approaching to the highest
level in the history. However, the price of certain commercial crops is
suppressed by lower global demands.
Food
safety issues become more important: The report points out that food safety
issues become more important after the outburst of COVID-19. Many countries
strive to keep safe operation of agriculture and the market can still provide
affordable and nutritious food.
New
crisis brought by the epidemic: at present, the buyers on the market are
limited; in addition to changed consumption mode, food manufacturers also face
vast loss for easy-deteriorating and nutritious food. Although insecure grain
is not caused by grain shortage after all, crops yield in next season may be
reduced if the supply of agricultural input such as fertilizer and seeds is
interrupted or manpower runs short.
