In
accordance with global sugar supply/demand forecast of International Sugar
Organization in May, Russia will export about 1.8 million ton sugar in the
agriculture season from October 2019 to September 2020, ranking the 7th
of global major sugar exporters. Sugar export of Russia will triple, and exceed
that of Cuba and European Union. According to Russian Sugar Federation, the
sugar export soared due to great harvest of beets in Russia; in 2019, the beet
harvest in Russia increased 29% on year-on-year basis, reaching 54.3 million
ton.
Russian
experts pointed out low price and convenient transportation help Russian sugar
plants expand sugar supply to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and meanwhile open the
former sugar market of Albania, Croatia and Serbia.
