On Aug.14, The Ministry of Agriculture
in South Africa released the draft of No.43613 law, and planned to revise
regulations on dried fruit classification, packaging and labeling for public
comments. The law is applicable to dried fruit sold in South Africa. Main
revisions are:
(1)
Revise definitions of “shelf life”, “bad fruit rate” and “insect fruit rate”;
(2)
Basic requirements that dried fruits of each grade shall comply with: if the
dried fruit is made of fresh and mature fruit, the appearance of fruit shall be
favorable without odor;
(3)
Dry package: dry fruits of different grades are not allowed to be packed in the
same container.
