As announced by Australian Macadamia Society (AMS) in December, macadamia nuts yield reached 46,900t, higher than the predicted yield of 2020. It reaches the peak value of the industry. Thus, Jolyon Burnett, CEO of AMS, said the former prediction considered the serious impact of drought in 2019.

Mr. Burnett said “as a whole, orchards of macadamia have favorable performance in drought conditions and good nuts quality. They produce more nuts this year.” “Macadamia trees are originated in Australia. They are proved to have natural recovery ability under variable weather conditions.” He also mentioned growers continuous investment in orchard field surface management is an inseparable part of soil water content management, which could help maintain trees and guarantee yield and quality during drought days.
