According to the second forecast of the Agricultural Production System Survey (LSPA) issued by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the harvest of Brazilian cereals and beans in 2021 will reach 256.8 million tons. This is a new record in historical statistics since 1975, an increase of 1.9% compared to the estimated 252 million tons in 2020.

The main reason for the record was an increase in soybean production by 6.3 million tons (5.1%). IBGE’s agricultural analyst said: “We expect soybean production in 2021 to hit a record. In 2020, soybean production will hit a record high and will increase by 7 million metric tons. In 2021, soybean production is expected to reach 127 million tons. ”
