According to a
report in Nigeria's Today newspaper
on December 29th, Nigerian cashew nuts are among 13 products that are
encouraged to export. According to the statistics of the National Bureau of
Statistics in the first quarter, Nigeria's cashew nut exports decreased in the
first quarter.
Nigeria is the eighth largest cashew nut producer in Africa. The main reason restricting the development of cashew nut industry in Nigeria is the lack of processing capacity. Only 10% cashews are processed in Nigeria, and others can only be sold at low prices according to the original products. From 2017 to 2019, Nigeria's cashew nut exports totaled over 122 billion naira (equivalent to US$ 320 million).
