Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development of Vietnam Proposes 2021 Cashew Nut Export Goal of USD3.6 Bln

Agricultural Products Processing and Marketing Bureau of Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development of Vietnam said cashew nut export of Vietnam in 2020 reached 511,000t with export volume of USD3.2 billion; the export amount is increasing 12.1% and export volume is reduced 3% on year on year basis. USA, China and the Netherlands are still the top three cashew nut importers of Vietnam, respectively accounting for 31.5%, 15.6% and 12.4% of total export volume. The average cashew export price in the first 11 months of 2020 is USD6,274/t, 13.3% lower on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, cashew nuts imported by Vietnam in 2020 reached 1.47 million ton with import volume of USD1.8 billion, respectively decreasing 10% and 17% year on year. Main importing markets are the Ivory Coast, Cambodia and Ghana.

According to 2021 growing plan of the Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development, the growing cashew growing area in 2021 will be 360,000ha., equaling to 99.7% of 2020; the cashew nut yield will reach 360,000t, equaling to 107.5% of that in 2020. The export goal in 2021 will be USD 3.6 billion, 12.9% higher than that of the previous year.
