Australia Releases Notice on Industrial Suggestion for Fresh Agricultural Products

The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment of Australia released No. 31-2020 notice on suggestions for imported industry that from May 1, 2020 it will not provide offshore pre-shipment inspections (OPI) for fresh agricultural products imported from New Zealand and USA. Goods before April 30, 2020 will handle clearance formalities according to OPI. Goods under clearance based on OPI must arrive at Australia before June 30, 2020. From July 1, 2020, all goods shall be sent to Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment for arrival verification. In order to meet import requirements of Australia, importers should know import conditions of Australia for fresh agricultural products, including: whether import license is required; compulsory plant quarantine measure, such as stifling and radiation; statement of plant quarantine; packing and labeling requirements; cooperation with overseas suppliers complying with import conditions; submitting correct documents; booking for one inspection before goods arrival. Nonconforming fresh agricultural products will be banned.
