Pubtime:2021-04-01Author:Source: Hits:

Since mycotoxin in corns imported from Tanzania and Uganda exceeded standard, Kenya banned corn import from those two countries. The ban of Kenya for import resulted in long queue of trucks on the border at Namanga, Tanzania. The ban will impact Tanzanian traders and corn growers who live on corns export to Kenya. However, the undersecretary of Tanzania Ministry of Agriculture said the government of Tanzania pays close attention to the ban, and will continuously protect benefits of corn exporters; Kenya shall not impact entire corn industry of Tanzania based on individual case; both Kenya and Tanzania are members of the ASEAN Community and disputes therebetween shall be solved by procedures of ASEAN community regulations instead of harming image of Tanzania by unilateral action.
