Growers in Mondulkiri Province, Cambodia successfully developed landmark agricultural products- Macadamia on the land 5,351km away from their place of origin.

For Cambodians, macadamias are additional incomes since they are economic crops in Europe and the ASEAN market. Thus, Cambodia is planning to export macadamia to China. Authorities said macadamia nuts are a kind of modern agricultural product imported from Australia and cultivated in Vietnam. They are planted in Northeast Mondulkiri  and mainly aim to export to China.

Macadamia nuts own multiple advantages and purposes and can be processed to medicine, or used to produce chocolate, perfume, oil, cosmetics and other food. If macadamia nuts grown in Cambodia comply with agricultural standards 4.0 and processing industry standards 4.0, they will enter markets of more foreign countries.

At present, 100 macadamia trees are grown on the half-hectares land. It takes 3~4 years to harvest nuts. Except Mondulkiri, other countries including Pursat Province and Kampot Province also try to grow macadamia trees.
