The consulting agency AgRural
released a report this week to reduce predicted value of corn yield in Brazil
in 2020/21, from 82.2 million ton predicted in early August to 81.9 million ton.
The yield after adjustment is 20 million ton lower than that number of
102.6 million ton in 2019/20.
The reason lies in adverse weather such as drought and frost in Brazil,
resulting in worse corn yield in the second season. AgRural predicted the corn
yield in the second season is 55.6 million ton, lower than the number of 75.1
million ton in 2019/20 year.
At present, the second season corn harvest drew to a close. As of Sept.2, 95% of second season corn has been finished in middle and south area, higher than 89% in the previous week; the number is 94% in the same period last year.
