Japan mainly imported cashew nuts from India earlier. However, recently, it gradually increased import amount of cashew nuts from Vietnam.

According to statistics of ITC, in the first five months of 2021, the cashew nut import value of Japan is USD33.17 million, lowering 11.2% in the same period of 2020. The import amount of cashew nuts from India dropped greatly, about 22.8%; the import value is USD19.14 million. In comparison, Japan started increasing cashew nuts import from Vietnam, and the import value increased 4.5%, reaching USD12.92 million.

In the first five years of 2021, Vietnamese cashew nuts are accounting for 38.97% of total cashew nut import in Japan, higher than the number of 33.09% in the first five months of 2020.
