Recently, USDA
released a report to analyze in details and predict production and
import/export volume of various nut products in 2021/22 season. The yield of
pecans is expected to double, and walnut yield will keep a tie with that in the
previous season. The periods of different nut varieties are different.
Walnuts
China is the
largest walnut producer in the world, and its yield is accounting for nearly
half of the global yield. In 2021/22 season (from Sept. 2021 to Aug. 2022),
the yield of commercial-level quality walnuts (unshelled) is predicted to reach
1.1 million ton.
Almonds
In 2021/22
season (from Aug. 2021 to July 2022), the yield of almonds (shelled) in China
is approximately 42,000t, decreasing about 7% than that in the previous season.
Pistachio
It is estimated
that about 20% pistachio yield will flow to Chinese market. In 2020/21
season, Iran is the largest pistachio supplier of China, with 65% importing
from Iran. In 2021/22 season (from Sept. 2021 to Aug. 2022), due to lower yield
in Iran, the import of pistachio in China will be reduced.
Macadamia nuts
In 2021/22
season (from Sept. 2021 to Aug. 2022), the yield of unshelled macadamia nuts is
expected to reach 32,000t, and shelled macadamia nut will reach 9600t,
respectively 5% and 9% higher on year-on-year basis.
Hazel nuts
In 2021/22
season (from Sept. 2021 to Aug. 2022), the commercial plantation area of hazel
nuts will reach 1.68 million mu, mainly in Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang,
Shandong, Inner Mongolia and Hebei. The predicted total yield (unshelled) is
35,000t.
Pecans
In 2021/22 season (from Sept. 2021 to Aug. 2022), the yield of pecans in China is expected to 4,000t, as double as that in the previous season. As more seedlings put into production in the future, the yield will continue to keep growing.
