The Association was Invited to the Korea NO. 488 SPS Notification Workshop by the National Food Safety Risk Assessment Center

The Association was invited to the Korea NO. 488 SPS notification workshop held on Nov. 27 in Beijing by the national food safety risk assessment center.

    During the workshop, the Korea NO. 488 SPS notification measures are introduced and participated experts discussed the food standard content related to the measures. The Association proposed the following contents on problems against the Korea notification content:

    1. Standard of heavy metals in peanuts and nuts, i.e. indicators of 0.1 PPM lead and 0.2 ppm cadmium are too harsh, we requested the Party to provide scientific basis; and

    2. We suggest to add pepper, fresh reed rhizome and honeysuckle in the catalog of “raw materials allowable in food'.
    The participated experts said that they would fully consider the suggestions the Association proposed and would further communicate with the Association when talk about nuts and seeds in the future with the Korea, with opinions of the industry respected and listened to.
