On Nov. 14, 2017, the first day of FHC China, Weng Yangyang, Executive Vice Chairman, and Yang Qian, Secretary of Specialized Committee for Nuts and Roasted Seeds of China National Food Industry Association (CNSA) met Walter Giuricich, Chairman of Southern African Macadamia Growers’ Association and his delegation in Shanghai. Walter introduced growing and export situations of Southern African macadamia in details. Currently, about 40-60% of Southern African macadamia nuts are exported to Chinese market, and China becomes the largest importer of Southern African macadamias. Thus, growers of Southern African macadamias are confident in Chinese market. In the meantime, both sides discussed new competition for Chinese market due to expansion of international nuts degree. CNSA also proposed two recommendations. The first is to enlarge export volume of Southern African macadamia nuts; the second is to formulate standards, and improve grade and quality of Macadamia nuts according to standards.
